For all I no, it may have been there before. I definitely did not look over that close at date of sale. I noticed it 3 weeks later when wiping down wheels with cloth. Figured I was brining it in 2 weeks later for 1st service I would have it looked at then.
When I go home I will look at S100 detailer (spray can) that I have been using on body work etc. But no chemicals were used on wheels, I only wiped off with damp cotton rag. I did purchase S100 spray on bike wash but have not used it yet, I was told to spray it on, hose it off then blow it off. Is this a product that should not be used? Shame the dealer promotes this stuff on there floor like no other products, it is twice the floor space than HD cleaning products was!!
I no longer use H-D service for anything on either of my bikes. I'm not at all confident that I get what I pay overpriced "1/2 hour" rates for.
A few months ago I had a front tire installed at the local dealer only to be told I had a bolt missing on one of my calipers. "No danger in riding the bike and everything is working as it should but they recommend a new caliper because the bolt isn't a stand alone catalog item" I was told. This 1-1/2 hours or more after I was told I'd be out in less than an hour. NOPE! I rode it in, I'll ride it out and get a bolt myself. Finally when it was ready there was over $100 tacked on to the bill for "Shop Supplies" which I of course successfully contested on top of , guess what, no missing bolt on either of the calipers. I avoided the email requests for positive reviews of their service department multiple times then finally replied stating I had no intention of returning. BINGO! Immediate phone call from the dealership service manager who proceeded to talk down to me due to the response. After telling him I was done with them he offered store credit trying to regain my business. Recently I was getting desperate for a rear tire so I called the same dealership multiple times only to not get an answer. Finally left a message asking for price and delivery - still haven't heard from them weeks later. There's other occurrences with the same dealership that I could go into but I'll spare those.
I now use a local Indie for anything I can't or don't want to do. IF I decide to trade my RK Special away, and that's a really big IF, or decide to get another bike I'll be looking hard at other brands. Pride in H-D ownership is quickly fading for me.
