When I bought my 04 it had 3,000 miles and the wheel finish looked like hell. Why would HD sell a raw aluminum wheel, instead of coating or painting it. Makes no sense
I have two bikes, a 2002 Road King (267,000 miles) and a 2007 V-Rod (192,000 miles) . The Road King was serviced by my dealer the first 50,000 miles and they used S-100 on it after servicing and returning the bike to me. The bike always looked brand new after a service interval. Since I stopped using a dealer for service, I have been cleaning the bikes myself using S-100 on both.
I use a spray to completely soak the bikes then rinse REAL GOOD then blow dry. Afterwards I use Maguire's detail spray to polish up the paint and Chrome. Never had a problem. Probably you all that have spotting and corrosion problems is that it was not rinsed thoroughly IMMEDIATELY AFTER APPLYING AND BEFORE IT DRIES. Never apply it in direct sunlight or afternoons when sun is real hot.
The instructions for using S-100 is very emphatic it must be hosed off before it is let to dry. This is most likely where the problems arise.
WOW. I didnt realize Harleys would go that many miles. Where there any engine rebuilds?
