I can't believe Harley dealerships carry and sell S100 if it is known to cause problems. I have a bottle that I was using on an Ultra Limited that I just traded in for a Road King. I just threw the bottle in the trash.
Funny you mention that, I have a spray can of it on the shelf in garage, apprehensive on using it on the bike. Maybe on something else.
Aug 31st was date of 1st service and when I brought situation up to dealership. Shop manager asked to have 1-2 days to look into situation and get back to me. After 9 days went buy and no answerer I called Manager and asked for an update. She said HD turned down warranty and that the dealership owners were out of town and she wanted to bring it up to them to see what they wanted to do. I said OK and looked forward to hearing back from Her. On my own, I called HD and told them of situation, they then contacted dealer and wanted pictures and would investigate issue and get back. So now I am waiting to hear back from HD or dealership.
Try a little of that cleaner you were using on a small spot on the rim to see if that recreates the same corrosion.
Also if you are storing pool chemicals in the garage with the bike it could cause corrosion on some metals.
Well, I waited 2 weeks and no answer from dealer or HD on issue. So I call HD with claim # and after I give her claim # she responds (what can I help you with?) I politely asked her I am inquiring on my claim that no one called back in witch HD was supposed to. She politely said sorry, its not covered. Cosmetic things like this are not covered. I politely said this is pitiful pride in a company to blow a customer off that just purchased 30k bike and less than 2 payments later its not covered.
I never made note of this. But I was a service manager at a multi-line Japanese/Italian dealership. ( Kaw,Suz,Ducati and Moto Guzzi). With over 11 years there I never had a warranty issue ever questioned and even had several items out of warranty that the manufacturer covered as a (goodwill). After leaving dealership to pursue a career (18yrs) in Air Force I decided to get myself a 50yr old birthday present by purchasing a new SGS. I love the bike but I am seriously disappointed in HD quality control and lack of customer support from an American manufacturer.
I really dont think these bikes are American made any more. You are paying for a name now and thats it. Believe me I have a couple of harleys I get more help from my enduro yamaha then my Harley counter help. Its a shame what is going on now. Well its greed thats all, by the way my enduro is a 1990
