HD turned my claim down after my bike was only 1 week old. The decal on the left tank was not under the clear coat and was sticking out from under it. They said i may have buffed the tank. This is why their warrenty is useless.

After hearing other customer stories, it really burns me HD is so arrogant to not take care of customer complaints on manufacturer defects. Not like anyone is buying discounted bikes for blems etc.

It doesn't look like a defect. It looks like environmental or chemical damage. The warranty clearly states that stuff isn't covered. No manufacturer covers that.

Bike purchased end of June and less than 2 months old, never driven in rain, garage kept and never used any chemicals on wheels. Wiped down with cotton rag. What did I do wrong? I will be applying some sort of protection from now on. Just wish I was told that at time of purchase. I have not seen anything in manual about requiring something on wheels at purchase or any time after that. Except for every 6 months.

Moco is famous for their **** poor customer service and attitude towards their customers. Spend a fortune on their overpriced bikes, and when you have an issue that would cost them virtually nothing to fix, they tell you to go pound sand.
the number one reason why I will never ever buy a new Harley again.

Sorry, but that is not true. Like I posted before, I was a motorcycle service manager of over 11yrs. I have seen everything come through, ANY manufacturer defects or corrosion was covered under warranty and most went beyond warranty period for some. I purchased this bike believing in a great American product. Not to be told 45 days after purchasing that my severe corrosion was not covered. FYI- these are deep pits that cannot be polished out.

On a side note, I truly wish I would have known at purchase that my wheels would require some sort of anti-corrosion polish etc. I certainly would have spent the time/money to address prior to this damage.

Manufacturer defects, yes. Corrosion is environmental and not covered. The only exception might be if you pointed it out at the time of delivery so there was no question that you didn't introduce the problem yourself.

I too was a service manager for many years. Factory warranty is pretty universal.

Welcome to the world of Harley ownership. One of the things I like about Harleys is that they are made out of actual metal and not a bunch of clear coated mystery metal crap. Harley wheels are typically just raw aluminum and need to be polished on a regular basis. One of the few exceptions is my 18 Ultra Limited with wheels that are black and chrome so no raw aluminum to polish.

Get yourself a tube of Autosol aluminum polish. I guarantee that those wheels will clean up and look better than new with a few hours work and perhaps 4 beers or less. Once polished, soap and water is all that is needed to keep them looking like new. Although my chromed wheels are easier to keep clean initially, I love the look of polished aluminum more than chrome and aluminum is easier to clean up in the event of scrapes or other damage.

Give your wheels a good wash and light polish with a rag and Autosol. Once done, get out there and enjoy your new ride!
