i presently own an 06 ultra that im considering trading on an 08 model.i talked to a salesman this afternoon, and he told me i could trade up for around $6500.00.what do you guys think about the price?my ultra has 10k miles, and some extras, such as rinehart true duals and some chrome stuff added.lets hear the comments.
imho, you've only got 10000 miles, why trade??? your modded 88 will run just as hard as the stock 96... i can't think of a reason to toss 6500 into the wind, bet that 6500 would buy a helluva lotta nice mods for your 06... i'd say hold onto it...
I also would keep what I have. At 10,000 miles you have not even broke it in yet. And at $6,500 I think that is too much of a gap to me. He should give you more than that.
Strip the bike down and trade it in as stock and if possible re-use it on the 08 or ebay it. In their eyes they give you nothing for the extra's.
I have been toying with the idea of a new one, but I keep coming back to there is nothing an 08 will do that mine wont. I live on the East Coast and the 6 speed is not a deciding factor, I dont have highways where that extra gear would benefit me, besides I enjoy the goat trails over the highways anyway. Keep the 6500.00 + the cash you would spend on extras in your pocket. I am sure in a few years another upgrade will come out that you will want. Keeping up with technology will send everyone to the poor house!!![:-][>:]Enjoy your 06!!! Bet it doesnt whine!!! just kidding!!
I traded my 2003 Black/Silver 100th Anniversary for a new 2007 three months ago. I find my self regretting doing so from time to time. The basic advantage for me is the 6th gear but how big of a deal is that? You do not shift into 6th until you reach 65-70mph. If you do , it sounds like the motor is falling apart. My dealer gave me 14,500 for mine with 19,000 miles on it. I took it from Texas to Glacier Nat Park last month and with the altitude change and the low grade gas, it had horrible pinging going up the hills, and moutains. I have talked to 4 dealers about the pinging, they just look at me like I am crazy.
But, if you are anything like me, it will drive you crazy until you trade. LOL
I say it's your bike and your wallet. If you like the features of the 08 and don't mind losing some money, go for it. If I really want something bad enough I don't let a little money stand in the way. Also, you could also sell it out right for more than the dealer will give you and narrow the gap a little.
