Looking to get a new windshield for my road king, could use one a touch taller. Is anyone running one with the recurve, or maybe has run one? Any input? Haven’t really noticed anybody running one and was Just wondering if it would be worth getting. Thanks.
I have a lightly-tinted Klock Werks recurve on my ‘02 RK & it’s so much nicer than the stock shield. Although the same height, the ‘flip’ pushes the wind above my helmet, reducing buffeting.
I don't , but I recommended a clearview windshield to a buddy of mine for his bike , a 13 Road King , he bought the curve and likes it a lot . When it's time for a new one , I'll get the same .
I have a Long Ride Shields on my King and it works awesome. It is a dark tint and although I look over it, I get very little buffeting. A recurve is the only way to go.
I purchased an 18 inch Freedom shield this summer. I got the medium tint and it's fairly dark but as others have said I look over it so it's fine. Nearly forgot to say I really like it.
I did the hotwing from Memphis shades on the stock tall hd windshield and ended up giving another 3” of wind protection over my head. Looks a little goofy but in talking around I think it’s more clean air space over what the flip top windshields offer and it’s just a straight looking windshield as the tops line up well so you don’t have that distorted ’curved’ are at the top of the shield.
if I had to do it again or in the future I’ll probably go with this setup again over a taller or lipped shield.
The Road King Elite Series - Polycarbonate Recurve Windshield
Recurve windshields do work well. They increase the pressure at the front of the windshield which kicks the air flow higher when compared to windshields without a recurve.
Thanks for all the replies, decided to try the recurve and ordered a light tint from long ride shields. I do look over the shield and could go an 1”” taller with no issues, but am hoping the recurve will get rid of the minor buffeting I have.
I'm a fan of the entire line of Freedom Shields, I believe they're the best made. The Freedom Shields windshields are thicker than some other ones, with edge polishing that's beautiful and a re-curve doesn't create the distortion some other brands have. Also, they have a very liberal "return policy" (as long as you don't remove the protective covering when you take a test ride).
Best of all, they manufacture their touring shields in ONE INCH INCREMENTS, so there's seldom a fit issue. I recommend their "Wide Touring Shield". I suggest you check them out......BTW, they offer a discount for members on this Forum if you ask them for the code. Always best to call them and discuss your needs.
