So cleaning my bike yesterday I noticed a light brown oily streak oozing down the top of my fuel tank. I pulled the console, it was gummy around the fuel tank pump cover. I thought fuel leak, but again it is an oily consistency. Cleaned it, road it and there is more coming out. If the bike wasn't white I'd never have seen it. Thoughts?

When gasoline evaporates it leaves that brown gummy residue behind. You should replace the cover bolts (they are self sealing) and the cover seal to be safe.

And while you're into it, might want to think about changing out the pump and filter. It'll save you a gasket and screws again later. Not sure how old, how many miles, or what bike you have, but it's just a thought.

Thanks, guys. I kind of thought that was the answer but wanted a more qualified opinion.

The irony is I had the fuel pump/filter done a bit over a year back as part of the 20k service I had done. It seemed like a good proactive step. I wonder if they reused those bolts. Just as an aside if the bolts were fresh would retorquing them maybe solve this? I do have a shop manual 2.0 -2.7 Nm.

No, you'd be better off leaving them alone as you'd just break the seal on more of them.
