I had a similar experience, filled mine while upright. Next morning found a few dips and bottom on console where seat is. Better, fill'er up on Jiffy stand next time.
The best way to see that vapor canister is to open the lid on your tank and look inside.You might need some light to see it...if so just ise a match or cig lighter...those work the best. While looking inside with the lighter..or match...slosh the tank a little and you should be able to see the vapor canister near the bottom...
