Default Help needed on Road King engine, tranny swap.

Hey guys. Need some help please. I have a 2006 FLHR 88 cubic inch (fuel injected) with the 95 big bore kit and original 5 speed. Have a good friend that has a low mileage 103 engine with 6 speed tranny, primary, etc. This was from his 2016 Street Glide. Trying to find out what would be needed to put his compete motor and tranny into mine. I have a power commander 3 on my bike. Will I need the ecm from the 2016? Have a Thunderheader two into 1 pipe on mine. Mine uses no oxygen sensors. Would that work with the 103 motor? I would think the stator plug on the 2016 would not mate up to my 2006 voltage regulator. Also my 2006 is cable clutch and the 2016 is hydraulic clutch. What needs to be done there? Have some big problems with my motor and the 103 and 6 speed would be free to me other than some labor. Thanks in advance as always.

Mike

Not sure if you are going to make that happen. The frames changed in 2008 and the newer 103 in 16 has the forward motor mounts on the sides of the engine, not one single one up front.

Not going to happen without some extensive major frame and rear driveline modifications, if that is even possible in your case.

it would probably be better to fix what you have. or, Maybe find a 2016 bike with blown motor to buy and put that motor and tranny in. let us know what you do. I would love to hear you got it in there and how.

Thanks all for your input. I had a pretty good idea that it was going to be quite a task. Have decided against it.
