I just finished installing my new wheels which consists of a 21" wheel in front and an 18 in the rear. the bike now sits a couple inches higher. I want to lower it to sit like it did with the 16" wheels. which front end lowering kit would you suggest. also should i lower the back end and if so which shocks whould you suggest. any help would be appreciated.
Harley has a profile low front suspension kit that drops the front 1". The rear should be OK and if you were to lower it any more with a shorter shock you would lose more suspension. Try the front end first and see how it feels, then do the rear if you think it's necessary.
I have 2007 ultra and installed harleys low profile kit front and rear. I did not like how low it was. However I did not have 21 inch wheels either. You need to do both front and rear at least thats what harley says???. Just one can cause drivability problems. If interested in the lowering kits e-mail me. My next step will be toput them on e-bay. edge2edge@comcast.net . Only on the bike for approx 3 months...
Ft End..... I tried HD's ft lowering springs and wasn't impressed - with the '07 RG I went with PROGRESSIVE FT SPRINGS they use a multi spring compression ratio that is much better then the HD springs...
I did exactly this on Tuesday. I bought a 07 Street Glide 2 weeks ago, added theHog Pro 8 Spoke 21" and 18" combo, had the front end lowering kit done when the dealer did the chrome front end kit. I then did the R.U.B. 1-1/4" kit on Tuesday. Took about an hour...feet are flat. With just the front end I didn't notice much except the ride was a little stiffer, I think it just made up for the 1/2" diameter difference from the 21". The 1-1/4 kit dropped as advertised. The only thing is it is recommended to run 25-30lbs of air = stiff and bouncy when the road is bumpy. I let the air out to 22lbs and the ride is much better (190lbs). Feels raked a bit. Love it. I had previously done just the rear on my 06 FLHRS didn't pay attention to the air and smashed the brake light housing. Dealer relocated it to the side of the fender and all was good. Hope this helps. Sorry for the rambling I'm new to the forum.
