A purist would probably balk at the "non stock" allen heads, but I think it is an elegant solution. Torx bits were designed for ease of assembly in manufacturing because the don't strip out as easily. 'course you could always use JBweld.
Well..............I just had to replace all them little screws with torx heads that hold the hinge on the hard bags. Threads ain't SAE from what I found less there is a number 5 screw. HD parts guy said "must be metric"
Uh....yeah, if your real slow at it!!! How long does it take to remove ONE Allen Head Bolt? (Thats all that holds the mounting bracket to the frame boss.)
From a production standpoint, I don't think there's much better than Torx. It's very reliable over time with less chance of stripping the head than some of the other choices.
Ok now im dumb but that pic (even the enlarged pic) of the ball end torx sure looks like it is just a ball on one end and torx on other..........LOL god im getting old and blind...........
