Default What tool for this job?

Hi guys, I'm hoping someone can help make this job easier. I'm in the process of doing my 20K service. I'm having a problem removing 1 screw in the primary cover. I think most people probably remove the passenger floor board but the ghost pipe for my Fatcats prevents me from getting to the fastener straight on. The right side of the fastener is blocked and there is not much room behind it. I know it's difficult to say without seeing it but I'm hoping to avoid having to remove the exhaust as it's bolted in a location difficult to reach too. It looks like I'm needing to invest in some new tools. Does anybody have a recommendation on the right tool for this job?

I think he might be talking about the passenger board bolt.

Looks like he needs a set of your passenger board spacers

Won't do him any good if he can't get the footboard off.

Default Tool Suggestions

Thanks for the replies guys. I was able to remove the passenger floor board by loosening the exhaust enough to get a ratchet to the fastener to get the cover off ... by the way I do have SOOS extenders bot only on the driver boards.

I do need advice on the right tools to do basic maintenance on my bike. I'm not a wrench by any means but using the service manual I'm teaching myself to do the basic service steps. I have the basic sets of ratchets 1/4, 3/8 1/2, US & metric wrenches, a torx set from Sears, allen set of ratchets from Lowes (not very good), a pound and inch torque wrench, basic screw drivers, pliers etc.

What other tools would you suggest I need for the Harley maintenance appilcations?

Should I change the screws and bolts from torx to something else?

Thanks again

Mike,
To do Basic Maintenance, oil changes, filter, plugs...you'll need:
5/8 socket for oil & tranny drains
5/8 spark plug wrench (I change plugs every service)
T27 Torx for primary
Oil Filter removal tool (if you dont use K&N filters, if you do, 17mm socket)
I can't recall for certain but either a 1/2 or 9/16 wrench...2 of them, for clutch adjustment
Drain Pan
Dri-Slide cable lube
K&N Air Filter Service Kit
3/8 Allen wrench, for tranny fill

The torx screws...I'd get rid of those.
