Im looking at purchasing the S&S MK45 slip ons and the S&S Power tune dual header for my 2012 stock 103. Just looking for people that have personal experience with them and how the like them and quality of S&S exhaust. Pictures and videos if you would like along with reviews.
I know my Dyno Man Highly Recommends S&S Exhaust, not sure though if it is what you are talking about.
id also like peoples personal experience with the exhaust and what they think of it because I hate to drop $1800 on stage 1 kit and had the exhaust setup when done. Ive wanted tons of videos on them
and would like to hear people out now.
I am a big fan of S&S. Great build quality, fantastic sound (that has a deep, throaty quality that is not as loud as Bassani, V&H, or Rinehart), and a removable dB baffle sound reducer so that you can tune your sound.
If you like really loud pipes though, you may want to go with the other 3 listed above.
I think they are the only ones that offer a CARB (50 state) compliant exhausts as well.
I have a Ultra Limited with Stage IV, and last year I ordered and installed an S&S 2 into 1 Sidewinder exhaust. Realize its not the same exhaust, but S&S is top notch. I was extremely pleased with the look, performance and sound after I installed them.
I’ve had the S&S tuned header, S&S Sidewinder, S&S El Dorado, S&S Grand Nationals and S&S MK-45s on my bikes since 2012. Always really good fit and finish, very high quality exhaust.
The tuned header was on my 2012 FLHTK stage 1, but I did not have the S&S slip-ons on that bike. The other exhaust have all been on ‘17 and newer touring bikes, most recently the MK-45s were on my ‘20 RGL with a FM 128.
What I like most about S&S other than the quality is the sound. Nice deep rumble at idle, good sound under acceleration but no highway drone running 70+ MPH. They also have removable DB reducers so if you like it a little louder they can be removed.
If you are looking for loud this is not the set up you want. If you want great quality, with good sound improvement you will be very happy.
I have SnS power tune duals on my bagger with SE Slashcuts.
torque improved 2-3k RPM from prior VnH true duals.
Front Cylinder exits on Left, rear on right. Engine sounds different under load from the seat, reminds me of headers on a smallblock back in the day....lol
Fit n Finish is excellent, and I can see where the cracking problem can occur if you force the install and don't provide for movement on right side.
Left side gets additional support from transmission that's swingin with the engine, so no issues there. Just have to make sure right muffler is able
to move up/down in the rubber iso mount in the rear without binding, cause its a long run.
It's a bear to spread the headpipe open to get it to the exhaust ports, eat your Wheaties!
Cobra make a similar headpipe arrangement that's 2 piece, no wheaties required.
O2 bung location looks good for most of the RPM band, Idle can be a little finicky, but a little manual tweeking on the TMax gave a mostly stable AFR at idle.
Do I like them?........you can't have them!..lol...not for sale.....but I do have a set of true duals somewhere in the garage.
I bought the S&S Grand Nationals and they give me the performance I'm looking for and are not loud but have a deep rumble to them. They are louder under full throttle.
I'm running an S&S Power Tune Header on my 2013 Electra Glide. I put it on right after I purchased the bike new in 2013. 9 years and 70,000 miles later there have been no issues and the chrome still looks like new.

What the man said.
I have the Sidewinder on my current Street Glide, and I had the Power Tune Duals header on my '13 Road King. Both quality products that fit right out of the box. I believe Khrome Werks makes the headers for S&S.
