I'm going thru this right now with my '15 Tri Glide. I got the Eclipse grips at the dealer (figure easy to return if a problem). They have 2 cables that are used for the left grip and run thru the bars. One has red/black wires and connects to the mating connector that hangs down by the left fork (under the fairing). Mine was right there in the open. It has a dummy plug you need to pull out. The other left grip cable white/black attaches to the matching white/black connector that comes off the throttle control cable. That should be near the handlebar clamps on the right side. The new heated right grip plugs into the end of the throttle control cable. Cap comes off end of grip and plug comes off throttle cable revealing the 2 holes for the pins. The grips come with 2 cables if you need to extend the left side ones. If you get longer bars I think it will be a little more complicated on the throttle side.

Seaweed,

Thanks for your input. I don't believe its going to be a problem. I've got all the parts on order or in hand to do my handlebar swap. Once I get my bike home from winter storage, I'll get to work on it. I think from what I can tell the wiring will be there on the police bike so it shouldnt be a problem at all, I just wasnt too sure at the time of posting this, until I dove a bit deeper. If for some reason that wiring isnt there, I can get a harness to wire them up without to much issue.

I'm going to do my best to document it so that I can do a write up on it when I'm done. There isnt alot of content on the web or youtube that I can find that is HD Police bike specific, so I hope to do some write-ups or videos to document what I do to mine so that maybe it can help others down the road.

Cop bikes have been coming with heated grips for a few years now but I can’t say for sure when it started. 2017 maybe?

figured it was an option a department could add when ordering. My particular bike doesn’t have them yet. But it will…soon…when they show up.
