Default Detachable King Tour Pak question

Looking for anyone who is running a detachable King Tour Pak with a chopped backrest on a Road or Street Glide. I was running a chopped T/P but sold it with the bike and always wished my full face helmet would fit inside. I always ride one up so wondering how it looks, along with any other experience, thoughts, pics, etc. Thanks in advance!

The chopped backrest will ride high on the king tour pack. I was also looking at that for my 2019 FLHTP that I added the Harley King Tour pack to.

I sometimes run the chopped TP on mine so can't speak with experience on the King TP but I'll agree with Goose. I removed the wrap around backrest altogether and plugged the holes since I was repainting the pack. I run my usual rider backrest and remove the pack if I have overnight or extended stay. Seems I deleted the pic's of mine but the pic Joee Joee posted should give you a perfect example of what you'll be dealing with.

I have a King and a Chopped tour pack, I will say the stock Chopped's pad was like a little rock in between my shoulder blades, until I had it modified locally (adding more padding and reshaping it). Now I really like it... Chopped is for 1-up, King is just for 2-up (for me)
If you're wanting to get rid of the wrap around look/feel of the King's wrap around, you might check out C&C Motorcycle Seat's "Banana Trunk Pads" in case it interest you...
I don't know what they look like/feel like on a King, but I may would have gone that way, if I had known about them before hand, for my Chopped.

This is a Chopped, though in 1-up..
When I had the back pad modified, I also did the lower flap part too, adding 2 inches of padding... for a King i would've had them make it a bit longer (to hide wires)
The lids are the same on a Chopped and a King (2014 & up), but they are drilled different for a wrap around or a chopped pad, the real difference is the King's bottom/tub is 3" taller than a Chopped... so imagine that pad sitting 3" higher

Thanks a lot fellas! These are some great ideas that I honestly never even knew were possible.
I do not want to have the "arms" on the pad for sure. For those that had both the chopped and the King, is the king the way to go cause I'll always be wishing I had more space?
I would probably mount it in the two-up position. Maybe I have to pad, although I have the pad from my chopped tour pak.

I have both, a King on a 2 up bracket and a Chopped on a 1 up bracket, and to be honest I seldom use the King. Usually only use it if I have a passenger. It's nice, speakers, full wrap around pad, the works.... It's nice for her comfort, and my peace of mind. IF you have a passenger on the bike, she's gonna want something padded to lean against... and shortly after that you're going to wish that she had something padded to lean against

Room wise, I've done several trips with the Chopped and never been challenged by it... the extra 3" wasn't going to make or break it... BUT as you stated above a FF helmet aint gonna fit.

Sounds to me like, for you, the way to go is the King... because of you're liking to put the helmet in it... just got to work out the pad issue. But if the little lady doesn't hardly ever ride, I'd get her a detachable back rest for when she wants to go, and get me a Chopped on a solo bracket.... but that just me lol
