H-D must have gotten a bad batch of volume switches (p/n 71810-08)
Mine was also down-side-up, and I found it hard enuf to get the caps on the right way, let alone 180 degrees out of sync.
After some experimenting, found that if you reverse the two outside wires (green & grey) then you can make everything right. I, also, found the caps hard to get on the stems, but used a 1/16" drill bit in a pair of pliers to clean out the "D" shaped hole.
Worked g-r-e-a-t !
