just wondering here........................wouldn't a 2014 model rim use a sealed bearing ? seems those old caged bearings went out back in the pan / shovel days.
just wondering why it is not a sealed bearing instead.
that's what a sealed bearing looks like internally, it's not some sort of magic going on in there
I was in the bearing industry for years. That bearing had to be screaming. Do you have loud exhaust or stereo, or both?
You were very lucky and also lucky there was no wheel damage.
Here’s a tip if you every have an outer race stuck in a wheel or wheel hub. Weld a bead around the inside of it and it’ll shrink and fall out. This technique is used a lot for tapered roller bearing races in a dead hole where you cannot get behind it.
wow........that WAS a sealed bearing !! i was just reading another post here with an old early 80's bearing was taken apart for repair. minus the cage, the bearings look quite similar.

That is a fantastic tip that I'm going to file away in the memory bank. I've pulled many bearings, never one like that.
When you said that it made perfect sense in my head.

Glad is worked out for you.
I just did a 90's sportster for a friend. Again imposssible to get from op side. Bead didnt work but i welded a disc onto the cup long rod inserted from other side and a good wack out she flew

Was almost written this tip too but did read the thread to the end.
Another tip.
Best 6205 bearings i've ever used for Harley 25mm axle wheels are USA made SKF 6205 2RSJEM. Used them a lot those times i was running a motorcycle repair shop. Never a premature failure with them.
2RSJEM means "Double Sealed Deep Groove C3 Internal Clearance". Internal clearance is very important for wheel application. Most failures people have with 6205 are due to wrong clearance class (regular C0 or tight C2 are not giving enough space for thermal expansion under the bike load)
USA made are still available on Ebay as NOS lots. But other countries made are also good.
BTW if somebody wants to get rid of special ABS bearing there is a Performance Machine kit 0071-3000 to install replaceable magnetic ring over the regular 6205 bearing.
