My problems continue. After replacing the wires I checked the connections and the right switch module seemed dead. When I reinstalled the master fuse none of the dash lights come on. I rechecked all the wires and it seems like everything is right, but no dash lights (odometer and all the other indicator lights). After disconnecting the two connectors from the module the indicator lights come on, just like I would expect before starting the engine. Plug the smaller connector in and nothing changes. Plug the bigger one in a the lights go out.

I drove an hour to a HD dealer and bought new RH wires and a new RH switch module for $300. I connected the new wires to the module and connected the other end of the wires to the connectors in the nacelle and got the same results.

So it seems that the wires are not the problem and the switch module is not the problem. Any ideas what could be going on?

Like I said at the beginning all I was doing was swapping handlebars.

thanks!

When I did my bars I got the right and left side connections mixed up. They connected but nothing worked right. Just something to check.

Finally got it figured out. I thought the LH, which is installed first, was good until I noticed that the high beams weren’t coming on. This morning I took it off and reinstalled it, being extra careful to keep the wires free of pinching. After that everything was working. I kept checking as I installed everything else and when I put the last screw in the headlight ring everything was good.

all done and I definitely won’t be touching the damn handlebars anymore!

thanks for all of the comments
