Default loading a ultra in pickup

How many as ever loaded thier bike in the back of a pickup? if so what size of bed did you have and were you able to close the tailgate, also what kind of ramp did you use? I have a Tundra with a 6'6" bed and need to close the tailgate when pulling the camper or it hits the trailer jack and propane tanks
so any suggestions are appreciated

thanks

Offically the bike is just over 8 feet long, but, if you put the back wheel on a slight angle you can close a traditional tailgate. No way with a shorty. (6'6") I use scaffolding planks for ramps, very wide, strong, and they have great bar holders to secure it to the truck.

Can you lenghten the tonge safely on the camper, or eliminate the tanks?

You may just have to get the wife to drive the truck, and you ride the bike.

It won't fit, an 8' bed with a wheel chock wont close either.

FYI, I don't use a chock, Just use two spare car tires that hold the front tire in place, and then reef it down.

I tie down at theses points, with all pressure pulling forward. This is inside an eclosed trailer.

Ultra just fits into 8' bed of Ram 2500.. but not exactly straight. With tailgate off you might still clear and have it straight.

Can't help on the ramps. I loaded it by having a buddy grab the right side engine guard, another grabbed the rear of both saddlebag guards and saddlebag guard and I grab the ones on the left side. Wife was in bed to grab forks for steering. Lift and slide it in. (not a recommended procedure.)

Soos you should look at tieing higher up on the front end. when i worked at the dealership we tied from the bars and pulled down on the front suspension, the only thing with this is that if you are not careful you can move the rubber grommet on the fairing that the bars go thru but you can also tie to the engine guards and pull down and forward as well, if you get some of those soft straps they really help out for the tieing down. Whenever i trailed bikes with them all i ever tied was the front end from the bars and if i had 2 or more bikes in the trailer i might put one strap pulling away from the other bike so as to not let them hit one another. I have even used 2 tied down bikes to hold the 3 one still and in the upright position but ... that's another story.

I called a bike hauler one night when my primary chain broke, and this F150, I think, pulls up and backs up to my bike. I thought "what the hells he gonna do with that" and I hear a jake break sound and his bed dropped to about 8" off the ground and he drops his tailgate and there were plates built into the tailgate and he just pulled and they slid out and he told me to jump on and rolled me right up the ramp into a cradle he had in the back, smooth as glass. loaded in about 2 minutes, then tie down and we were gone. Way fast and kinda impressive.
He had what appeared to be a stock bed, but had the suspension modified for loading bikes, he moves bikes professionally.
If you want to talk to him about his set up his number is:4802354568
He hauls bikes for several of the shops and tire fixers in phoenix.
