Default Replacing the Radio

I found similar tyoopics top this in other threads. But they were almost 2 year old threads and thjey did't REALLY answer my questionsa So I'm asking here in a new thread.

I have the original HK that came with my trike ('09 Tri-Glide). I have changed out the radio twice already. All three radios have the same issue. I'll be going down the road happy as a clam. Then, the radio volume cuts out. When I come to a stop, I can still hear the radio but at greatly reduced volume.Turn the radio off and back on, the volume returns. For a short while. I'm an electronics repair technician from the Navy. I recognize a final stage amp cutting out (due to heat) when I see it. Or more precisely, when I hear it. I'm not really interested in trying to fix it again. What I am looking to do is just replace it with a new radio.

What I don't understand is why I will be losing the CB function, or the Sirius/XM function. Those both are external add on modules. Besides, I can find a LOT of radios that have Sirius/XM built in. And, I don't really use the CB. Ever. So I don't really care about that function. I understand why I would lose the inter-com. That is an internal function to the radio. So what are the radios that are suitable for replacing the HK? And what features WOULD I lose?

Also, This forum is supposed to send me an email whenever someone responds to this message. I don't get the emails. So maybe you could send me an email letting me know the answer to my question. jamntam59@gmail.com

On my previous bike, I replaced the HK head unit with the Aquatic AV. I did add an external amp and replace the speakers, but it was a very good setup. The only feature I lost that I missed was the auto volume. I always had to manually lower the volume at stops.

You retained the Inter-comm?

+1 for the Aquatic AV. You do lose the intercom and auto volume. Everything else works just fine. Retain hand controls and everything. Great little unit compared to the HK. The added bluetooth is awesome too. Very happy with mine, I would suggest looking on Amazon for one. I found one at the start of the year that was $50 less than everyone else that had it.

Send it to Iron cross . It will be fixed it will come back better than new. You can also have some new features installed if you wish.

Other option is as other mention install and aftermarket radio. bit of work to get it all done right but effestive.

+1 for Iron Cross, they will make it right and you will have no loss of functionality. Also they have quick turn around times.
