Replacing the Radio
I have the original HK that came with my trike ('09 Tri-Glide). I have changed out the radio twice already. All three radios have the same issue. I'll be going down the road happy as a clam. Then, the radio volume cuts out. When I come to a stop, I can still hear the radio but at greatly reduced volume.Turn the radio off and back on, the volume returns. For a short while. I'm an electronics repair technician from the Navy. I recognize a final stage amp cutting out (due to heat) when I see it. Or more precisely, when I hear it. I'm not really interested in trying to fix it again. What I am looking to do is just replace it with a new radio.
What I don't understand is why I will be losing the CB function, or the Sirius/XM function. Those both are external add on modules. Besides, I can find a LOT of radios that have Sirius/XM built in. And, I don't really use the CB. Ever. So I don't really care about that function. I understand why I would lose the inter-com. That is an internal function to the radio. So what are the radios that are suitable for replacing the HK? And what features WOULD I lose?
Also, This forum is supposed to send me an email whenever someone responds to this message. I don't get the emails. So maybe you could send me an email letting me know the answer to my question. jamntam59@gmail.com
