Use a wood bit it cuts like butter without slipping and acts like a small hole saw. I just did my wing spoiler light and it was amazing how well it drilled and left a hole that looked like it was punched through. I got the bit set at Sears. I positioned the template with tape and used a scratch-all to make small locater ****** thorough the paper. The bit has a very small very sharp point and itworks great. Remember this isn't fiberglass it's more like nylon and about 1/4" thick.Just take your time keep the drill straight up and down.Piece of cake!
I ended up drilling something like 14 holes in my tourpak when I mounted it, the rack, and the backrest. Believe me, it gets easier after the first few holes. I used painters tape, measured, and took my time. It also helped that I have a wheel chock to hold the bike upright so it was perfectly level during the install. I also had a large table covered with a blanket to place the TP on while I drilled. Hope this helps.
