Touring Seats
There are firm horse saddle type seats, softer/cushy seats, and seats in between...
Once you decide on a style, there are differences in shape, size, and foam types & gels that can have a big impact on your comfort.
Do your research, but eventually you will have to try a seat, to know for certain if it's for you...
Having said all that, I have had/used seven different seats, between two baggers, before finding my favorite long distance seat.
Surprisingly I found the older version (#52093-08A) of the HD Sundowner to be very comfortable.
My second favorite seat is in the firm category, the LePera Route 66. I find it very comfortable up to about 3 hours or so.. That is my every day seat that I use around town. It is attractive as well as comfortable.
My favorite long distance seat is the Russell Day-Long seat. I can ride for hours and for multiple days on that seat. It is, by a good measure, the most comfortable long distance seat I've used, tried, owned..
The only reason I don't leave it on full time is due to the fact that it does raise you up a little. At 5'8" w/31" inseam, I have to use the "slide forward at stops" technique to get flatfooted. I do it without thinking while on trips, but around town, if stuck at traffic lights, that position is not as comfortable to me and the LePera sits me lower on the bike...
Good luck with your research and your decision....
