When I was buying a Harley, several folks, after learning I was going to put a side car on it said that I ought to buy a Gold Wing - IT HAS A REVERSE. I've heard this rave before, so I wondered, if it would help Harley's sales if they put a reverse on their bikes. I think I would like it.
Yep, they should at least offer it as an option for folks that could use it to extend their riding experience. The Ural in my avatar had a reverse. With the sidecar, it was a must have item. Otherwise, you had to get off and push the thing into a parking spot.
At times I could see where having reverse could come in handy especially onthe heavier bikes.
I was recently in Lake George, NY for a weekend and the villiage was pretty busy. The only places where I could find a decent parking spot was on a slight hill. I wasn't able to push the bike backwards up the hill to get into a spot. [:@]
I noticed most of the bikes were parked on the other side of the street where the hill actually helps you back into your spot. We ended up parking on a flat side street.
I was recently at a classic car show where a lot of bikes show up. The wife & I were walking around looking at the bikes when a lady rider on a Sporty was stuck trying to push her bike backwards into a parking spot. Being a nice guy I grabbed her front forks and helped her out. I told her I was availible on weekends..............for a small fee of course.
It could be a nice option, or on one model, for those who want a sidecar, pull a trailer, or on a trike... I for one an a two wheel fan and would not want to have it on all the touring models....
maybe set up like the wing, uses the starter for reverse, only in neutral with a button pressed in, would be nice....I have used it a lot with the wing (triked)....does come in handy for parking etc.....
thats one of the reasons i liked my GOLDWING so much.[8D]
LOVE REVERSE !!! WONDERFULL !!!!!
also wish harley would go with liquid cooling....
we can only dream, that someday harley will build a GOLDWING.[:'(]... hahahahaahaa !!
but honestly, i would love to have reverse,
