I want to like them, but having a square display in a round gauge really wastes a lot of space and it bugs me for some reason. Like others, I have a set of CVO gauges on order.
We put DD on the wife’s 13 sg and they are great. Put them on my 16 cvo sg in 2018 and can’t be happier. Not for everyone but I found them so much easier to read on sunny days compared to the stock cvo gauges.

I removed my Dakota Digital gauges after a couple of month because here in Sunny Florida I could not read the face in bright sunlight. They were nice when the sun was not shining or when passing under trees.
I am not sure which version you had but this is not the case with the newer version. In fact, in bright sunlight the gauges automatically switch to a high contrast white background with black numbers.
They are amazing! If you do order them, make sure you get the oil temperature sensor. You can customize every single color for every piece of data on each gauge. It will read your head temps, oil temp, highest RPM, fastest speed, fastest 1/4 mile, air temp, distance to empty, etc... You can pick which data set appears in all of the auxiliary gauges. The only thing they do not show is when you put your bike in transport mode. I called tech support and they confirmed that this option is not currently available. I think they simply forgot to add it so my guess is the next series will have transport mode.
Put a set on my 2021 TriGlide and have no complaints. Now, I don't have the OEM guages that drip moisture or whatever it is inside the speedo and tach lens.
I looked at oem gauge mods. Then I looked at CVO gauges. After a lot of research I went with....neither. Dakota Digital got my money and that's been a home run-ten ring-touchdown all the way for me. Truthfully, the gee-whiz colors are secondary for me. I went DD precisely to get fast and highly visible data at a glance. I chose the color range to accomplish that, and not to impress anyone. I installed them myself and they have worked perfectly since day one. At a quick glance I get bright digital numbers telling me speed, rpm, engine temp, oil temp, fuel %, fuel range, trip, time, gear, ambient temp, voltage and more. For me it is completely superior to the old analog style gauges I had to study for information. Stylistically, I think the DD gauges are a better matchup with the BOOM GTS screen, Car Play and other visuals there. As for washout in sunlight, I've only experienced that momentarily and it's a tiny tradeoff for the constantly better visibility of the DD gauges for me.
They do look awesome. Like I said in my previous post, it sounded like they fixed the sun issue with newer version, but that was shortly before I purchased my CVO gauges.

Thank you... My friend ordered his and waiting to see how they turn out.
My eyes aren't what they used to be. With the oem gauges I could could read all 4 analogs and I could see 'N' light up without needing to study them. But the other data or info displayed in the little window below the speedo was basically impossible for me to see while moving or in the wrong light.
I didn't get to see anyone's DD gauges before buying mine. The best I could do was Youtube and online images. I've been so impressed with the 'at a glance' readability that I would never be without them again. The whole cool factor fun thing with the colors lasted about a week for me and I haven't changed them in almost 2 years. They're a pretty expensive thing to be adding just for gee-whiz value, but absolutely worth it to me for the volume and visibility of data.
