Default Am I crazy?

At the dealer this weekend, I sat on a Streetglide. No idea why but just wanted to see how it feels with the tour pack. What I noticed was how nice the stock bars were. The position, being little lower and closer to me felt very comfortable.

I bought my bike with 10 inch Twin Peaks already installed. Those had like 4 or 5 inch pullback and I was always reaching for them. So I changed to FBI 12 inch bars with almost 12 inch pullback. Don’t get me wrong, I like them and they are comfy, but I really think that stock bars are more comfortable! Not to mention, my jacket doesn’t ride up because my arms are not in Frankenstein position lol.

Anyone else ever went back to stockers???

I've never been an "apes" kinda guy. Mostly beach bars for me. I've ridden bikes with tall or shorter bars and often felt it depends on what you are used to. In your case, clearly, that is not the situation.

I'd say if those bars feel better for you, then there really isn't any argument to be made. Might I suggest taking one for a short spin to make sure the handling is comfortable for you? I think folks can get used to about any style of bars if they want, but it would really suck to buy in for the initial feel and then want to swap back to the old ones because you're unsure of the handling.

So far as your initial question, no, you're not crazy for liking something different than the masses. IMHO anyway.

Good luck with finding the perfect bars for you!

Oh I rode with stock bars before when we rented couple Streetglides. I had no issues with them at all and felt they were comfortable, even the stock grips.

The only reason why I didn’t have them on mine was because the previous owner had aftermarket ones installed. I do have original ones in a box.

I also like my FBI bars but I wish they were a little lower. At the biggest pullback, they are 12 inch height. I really like 10s or 9s but they do not come with larger pullback.

I buy for comfort and not for looks, but I’m tall and stock bars don’t work for me on an FLH or FLT. I go a little taller. Too tall and my shoulders don’t like it.

Just sitting on a bike in the showroom does not equate to driving one. Until you actually are on the road for a few hours, you really won't know the comfort level.

Of all the new Harleys I've owned, I've never felt a need to replace the stock bars in the interest of style or comfort. I'm average size so I could see how taller or shorter guys might need to change them.
