Sweet looking RG sped! I sent out the radio on my 2000 RG and did the rest of the cb/intercom mod myself sinse my bike already had the switches from the factory. It works great.
Thanks Spike. Did you extend the cable from the tank console? If so how? Did my part numbers look ok to you?
Thanks.
Haven't done it all yet. My bike is in pieces right now for paint and other stuff. CB radio will be installed later by someone that is competent around electrical stuff, in others, not by me. The thing I see is you will need to make your own wire harness to get the sound from the radio, back to the tank console. The console plug ends at the back of the tank so you can make a plug out of it and have the mating plug there for easy removal of the tank. You will want to keep that feature when you connect your CB up
Thanks a bunch. I've recently added some V&H Ovals, a hitch and single wheel trailer and a new shield. It's my first HD and I'm liking it a bunch more than I ever thought I would. This may be the bike I've been looking for all my life.
I think we have it figured out. My buddy and I poored over the scematic and with the harnesses in hand we found an empty plug up near the radio that had colored wires that matched the same colors in the dash console harness. We, well Bluto, made an extension from that plug back down the frame and put plugs on the dash console harness and the extension. Does this sound right to anyone? From what I have read on this thread and from other menbers that have e-mailed me info, it sounds right to me. I guess we'll find out later this week
cglofland, It seems I have the same problem as you. I just completed the installation of the CB on my 07RG on Saturday and I also have no audio out put, all functions on the radio work, when I use the PTT button it cuts out others and they here the click when pushed and the radio acknowledges the use of the button by highlighting the "CB" insignia, I receive fine, headset and or main speakers. I have the new 1/2 helmet headset and extensionfrom J&M, I also tried a friends Harley headset in my console plug and it also did not put out thru the mic, I already had the additional harness installed when I installed the XM radio feature and it had the mating plug connections for the CB for which I utilized for my CB feature install. I pulled the nose off this afternoon to verify all connections, every thing looked fine, I'm stumped. I contacted Harley on the phone and the woman that answered on the "touring" - "electrical" number said the offer no technical help and said to contact my local dealer, great answer!
I had JMCB-2003 installed on wife's deluxe. Total price for everything CB, All wiring and 55MM speakers for helmet $703.00 from J&M. Installation was done in Houston was extra.
As i understand it... adding the CB to the RG will cost you a grand for the unit, and close to that again for the install..... or?? you can get a J&M handel bar unit with speakers in your helmet, for under a grand...
The finalcost for me to add it to my 07RGwas$565.00, module, tour pak antenna kit, center console harnesswith aplug & lock, weather cap and J&M new 1/2 helmet headset and lower cord and short antenna (headset, cord & sht antenna were $225.00 of the $565.00). I already had the adapter harness installed when I added the XM module. I did not purchase the RG center console for the CB headset plug, I drilled and installed the headset plug in the current center consolein the insert area, this console islonger, the all chrome one (don't have the p&a #) like on the street glides (it eliminates the gap between the console & seat). The module, TP antenna kit, console harness, plug & lockand weather cap were purchased thru Zanotti's.
