Amsoil's Harley oil change "kit" is only a couple dollars shy of $90, per their website., I'm sure it's over $100 with taxes and shipping thrown in. And that's for a twin cam, if your bike is newer than 2016, it'll cost you over $100 for that same oil change from Amsoil. So, your two twin cam Amsoil changes per year cost you close to $200, and if your bike is a 2016 and up, those same two will cost well over $200. That is, unless you want to PAY Amsoil $20 for the privilege of them "letting" you purchase their product (how nice of them) at a discount. You consider that a great deal? Meanwhile, I can do TWO complete oil changes on my bike using Mobil One 15w 50 for less than $90. Like I said, do what you want.
You're right! I rechecked my costs and edited my post! It actually cost me less than $80 for my two oil changes. Tell me just where my Amsoil prices were off? I got the prices straight from their website.
The Mobil One oil I posted about is 15W 50. Why in the world are you wanting to put 20w 30 in your Harley? Mobil does make a 20W 50 v-twin oil, but it's more expensive and the 15w 50 additive package is almost identical. You don't need motorcycle specific oil in your Harley engine because it doesn't share the oil with transmission or primary. You use other oils for the tranny and primary (clutch). The engine oil never touches those areas.
I agree, annoying to pay to be a member. I thought about 6 month membership.
Many stores carry it, so never bothered yet

I been running syn3 in primary and I am happy. Plus if you sprocket shaft leak won't matter.
I run 2050, I am sure you can get away with other weights, but I am going to run the weight recommend by manufacturer.
While 2 bike have gear oil in tranny, which I could never tell difference, latest has syn 3. Which I may leave. Any transfer and won't matter.
I'd like to find good price on gallon 2050 syn. They offer in auto but not bikes. Bastards

drop the amsoil prices by 25% and compare comparable oils. hd syn 3 kit is 91$. amsoil is 86.70. pay the 20$ and you save 6$ off the already cheaper better grade synthetic even including the fee, so thats about 11$ cheaper than the syn 3, and you dont have to deal with walmart to get it as a plus. you can dislike their business model all you want, but youre fudging numbers to validate it.

if youre buying the loose quarts of syn 3 at the dealer and a seperate filter whats the price per quart? just curious, you say were getting gouged, im just curious by how much since i cant check the hd site for it.
It's up to around $13-15. I think. Was $10 couple years ago. Harley website says $108.
Filter $10ish, I could be low.
I travel for work and me, so I get by dealers I get the luxury tax of having it come to door.
But price seems high
sounds like the kit is a gouge then. 4x15=60. i cant see 31$ for a filter. im never near a dealer while i travel for work and working 16hr days i dont really have time anyway. im not by any means crapping on other oils quality levels, i just explained what it is and why i go with them. if i could hop on any other brands website and have a synthetic oil at my door the next day inside a few clicks id go with whatever was cheapest. amsoil could be better or could be worse than other oils, idk, but i do know its super convenient and the premium for that isnt enough for me to even think about.

Still makes ZERO sense to me when I can do two oil changes with what I consider EQUAL quality to Amsoil for less than $80.
