I need some help here. I parked my bike inside a mechanic shop for semi trucks for a month. While I was on the road trucking. When I got back to the shop bike was covered in dust and filth. I took the bike to car wash and washed it real good, there is now some type of a dry grainy feeling film on the bike,I've tried to hand wash it,I can not get the film off of the bike. Now I am not sure what it is or if it is even something from the shop. I would like to know what ya'll think about this problem and what I can use to fix it. Some type of rubbing compound or wax or ??? Thanks for your help. Steadyflow

My advice would be to take it to a paint shop and get them to look at it. If it is the silver colour you I would not be taking any chance on messing with it. Good luck.

If it was in the shop it couldbe about anything. But my guess is diesel soot. On a spot not easily seen try bug and tar remover but let it sit on there keeping it wet for 2 or 3 minutes befor trying to remove it and just wash it off.
I had diesel soot on a car and that seemed to work.
