As goofy as they fangs look , I wouldn't take mine off for anything . I did exactly what you did , place my hand along side the tank and felt the turbulence coming up from both sides , bought the fangs , and gone .

This is going to sound a little odd...I have a Street Glide ST and was getting a decent amount of buffeting. I am 6' 1" and pretty normal dimensions for that height. Added a 6.5" Klock Werks windshield. Did much better, but was getting buffeting still. Read all the posts on buffeting, just like you. Held my arm horizontal across my chest--lots of air coming up at me. Held my hand out and traced a stream of air back to the underside of the fairing and figured fangs must be the answer for me. Then I changed my seat to a LePera Daddy Long Legs seat and it pushed me further back and my riding position changed--my knees came in closer to the tank because I wasn't so cramped and I realized most of the air coming back at me was from my open knees catching wind. If I hug the tank with my knees almost all the turbulence and air was gone--if I man-spread I get tons of buffeting coming up at me. Dumb, I know. But if I man-spread I get tons of air coming up my chest--close the knees and its gone, instantly. Like flipping a switch on and off. Dunno if that is what is going on for you, but figured I'd share.

@mrhammer2u Have you looked at the GADS? It stands for Glide Air Deflection System. I have a 2018 Tri Glide and I really noticed the wind coming from that small gap between the bottom of the fairing and the top of the lowers. I did a lot of research before buying the EGADS (Electra Glide Air Deflection System). That really helped with the buffeting. It’s just a small deflector that mounts using the stock spot lamp bracket. They make some two piece systems, but they don’t work on a Tri Glide do to the steering damper.

Also what @JDVBurns says about “man spreading “ I found to be true and is another item to look at.

Here’s a link where some folks talk about the GADS.

Here’s the GADS website.

I have read multiple threads about buffeting. How does the wind hit differently for different riders?

There's a pocket of wind you want to get into. Depending on your windshield, height, etc will determine where the pocket is. The problem I'm having is figuring out how to move my pocket back and exactly where the turbulence is coming from. Sides, underneath, over the shield...? I've tried the arm over chest test and it's inconclusive.

I'll be taking all my gizmos off and starting from scratch. I'm also going to try a Klock Werks screen again. They seem to lay back further which you'd think would push the pocket back. I can then rule in or out if the shield is the fix.

I'd love to try a diff helmet but that's a major commitment that may not make a difference. (I spend $ on quality here)

I'll be taking everyone's advice here and will report back.

Might try a different helmet. Trust me... it makes a difference.

Take off the dog dish, and fairing wings.
Use a mid-size windshield with a top recurve.
Drive it and report back.

I have the same helmet as the OP. It is an excellent helmet designed for no wind protection at all, but works well with wind protection as well.
You can experiment by removing your visor.
