My Sportster is a different animal but switching from a Memphis Shades fats to a full sized batwing I did notice more lower wind. I my case the bike was getting blown around with the fats so the batwing works better to eliminate that but on a bigger bike it might be something to consider. I can put that fats on my softail and the bike doesn't even know it's there.

It's all down low though guys, with a 5 inch windshield on the batwing I can put my hand up and feel the wind going just over my head from the top.

Why do some riders have the problem and some don't? I don't understand buffetings causes, but I feel very fortunate to not have the issue. I've wondered if bar height contributes to it? Do my arms block/deflect wind with my 14" bars? LRS 9" recurve and a deflector on the lower tree of my Street Glide is all I have. No buffeting with a Shoei RF1200 or a Badass carbon 1/2 helmet.

I wonder the same thing. I have bought 5 different windshields, now. It was so bad on my ride home from the dealer when I bought it new, that I was going to try to get my Dyna back. I could not go over 60, or my vision blurred from the the paint shaker my head was in. That was with a Scorpion FF Modular helmet.

I ****ed around, did the "dog dish" that made it worse, tried the dish with 4 WSs, still worse, and finally got the mixture right with a seat that sets me back, the DK Cooling Wings, the 6.5 KW 80% of the time, and the 8.5 for gnarly/winter/rainy weather, and the CF Bad Boys lid whenever it is not raining.

It sucks. I am truly envious of you, brother!

I went to 10" FBI bars, no difference noticed.

For the moment I'll just live with mine, it beats the hell out of the bike getting blown around on the highway. I've considered lower deflectors.

How tall are you?

What seat is that? Sit you higher or lower then the stock SG seat?

You spend much time around 75-80mph? You're saying everything is silky smooth at your head at this speed?

Just remember, the air has to go somewhere... If you go taller on the windshield, air will want to go lower, which is what happened to me. Then I added fork fangs, and the air went to the sides, which is fine, except that the faster you go, the more turbulent the air stream is - so i added adjustable fairing deflectors. Then that caused the air being pushed to the sides to ride up my legs and hit my in the arm pits, which is fine because it feels good lol

I'm just shy of 6', and the seat is a Corbin Gunfighter. The position is about the same as the factory seat, maybe a tad higher and a tad back, but the difference is really not worth mentioning. I spend most of my time above 75 once I leave the city streets. And yes, very smooth unless I'm riding straight into a fierce headwind.

The solution is very simple. Buy a Road Glide and install a 12" Windvest windshield. Problem solved.

This is what I did to cure the buffeting I felt on my street glide. The buffeting was so bad it caused headaches anytime I would ride at freeway speed and rendered the bike unridable for me.

i am a big believer that leg length is the main contributor to whether or not you feel buffeting.
