I have a 22 RGS and had the torque cam installed before it left the dealership when purchasing. It was ok but the bike just never ran as well as I wanted. A couple months ago I had an independent install a “REAL “ stage two with a S&S 475, cam chest, tuner yada, yada….. The bike is now to my liking. Having had both in the same bike I definitely wished I had just rode the bike stock from the beginning until I was ready to scrap the warranty and do the legit stage two with aftermarket parts and a good tuner. If the warranty is important to you the torque cam seems to be the most popular. I decided that after one year I was willing to risk losing the warranty in order to get the bike running like I want. I have three friends I ride with who all have stage two HD installed torque cams. The difference in power in ANY gear at ANY speed is significant. Just my two cents

1. Torque. More usable in everyday riding situations, especially with heavy machines like these.

2. No. Your '22 has the latest oil pump.

3. Just do it. Stage 2 provides maximum gain for the money of all the stage upgrades.

The cam will need to be tailored to your riding style. Do you ride high in the RPM's? If so Power... if not torque.

you have the most updated cam plate/oil pump so no need to change unless you like the color orange for the screaming eagle cam plate/oil pump upgrade. Don't expect too much out of a simple cam job. You WILL see improvements in performance, but it might not be as much as you envisioned. Remember it's still an 800+ lbs bike.

watch the tappet cuff bolts, they brake off on some bikes from too much thread lock.

I generally ride in the higher RPM's (3000 or more) and love the power cam from HD (SE462). Combined with a hiflo air intake and good mufflers, thats all you will need. If you use all harley SE stuff with the exception of mufflers, harley has exact downloads developed in their factory dyno for your ecm to run without any issues. My last 3 M8 bikes have had the power cam, Ventilator A/C and Khromewerks HP+ mufflers. They all ran great and sounded awesome. I've walked away from many a stoplight wannabe's on hot rodded harleys, lol.

I just did a stage 2 with a thundermax and love the results. The harley tuners are limited in what they can do due to EPA regs. I considered the impact of using non harley parts on the warranty, but in 40 years of riding and 20 bikes, I have only had one warranty issue. So I went with a Fuel Moto package that included cam, cam bearing, lifters, adjustable push rods, and added cam chain tensioner, oil pump with gasket, and cam plate. Fuel Moto has pages of dyno runs with all different cams to help you choose. I wanted low rpm torque and went with a Redshift 468.

I also made sure the master tech did the work. Good luck.

I had a stage 2 torque cam, Street cannons and se tuner installed at about 500 miles last spring on my then new 2022 SGS. A/C is the stock ventilator but with the SE filter. No new cam plate or oil pump.

If I had to do it all over again, I absolutely would do the exact same thing.

Every tech that has ridden it seems to think I have an aftermarket cam and a Powervision or other tuner and can’t believe it’s all SE. Maybe I got lucky. Maybe the butt dyno is not as sensitive as folks think and numbers in a chart only tell part of the story. I don’t know but it just plain runs great and a massive improvement over stock.

I have about 15k miles on it now and it has been nothing but outstanding. For my riding, lots of highway two up or with luggage, some twisties thrown in now and again, it just rips.

Sounds great, runs great, pulls from 2k all the way to redline. Yes warranty is intact. That’s important to me when I’m 2,000 miles from home. MPG is still around low to mid 40’s, also important to me on those long highway runs.

Next to bars and rear shocks, it’s really the upgrade that puts a smile on my face every time I twist the throttle.
