I've done that twice (seperate left and right problems) and ended up with a spare set.

That may be the path I take, but there's time since summer starts in a couple days and they won't be needed for a while.

Last failure was this past winter when I man-handled the left grip and popped the dial off. I thought I'd managed to get it back together ok but this spring the grips were on high all the time (dial didn't work). The heat was not tolerable so I had to take action (still need the grips operating properly here until late spring/early summer). So yeah, now I've got a complete set for the next time one of them breaks.

Snowmobiles go to the bone yard with the stock heated grips, and work at 100mph at -10. It shouldn't be this way.

I'm going to hit the inside of the grip with a brake hone. That will either fix the problem or destroy the grip. Stay tuned, I ordered a new hone for this since I can't find my old one.

The brake hone worked like a champ, back to normal and problem solved.

For those of you that might not know what a brake hone is, here's a picture.
