My Boom system on my 2019 RGS has an issue when riding in the rain, if the screen is in any mode the screen will flick from one screen to another on its own. It does this anytime I ride in heavy rain within a few minutes.
Today I went to my local HD dealer to report it as I have an extended warranty and prefer to get it sorted before it expires. I was told its PERFECTLY NORMAL for this to happen!!
I said thats BS but the service manager was adamant it happens all the time and there is no fix, I said there is, fit a new one!
Has anybody else experienced this issue, am I right in saying it should not happen?
As soon as it dries out it is fine again.
Does your extended warranty cover if for some inexplicable reason the radio developed an internal short and went “pfffissst”.
Kind of like when my iPhone died. I had the replacement insurance. If there was no obvious physical damage, I had to send it in for evaluation. Where it would be determined if it was repairable. The turn around would be as much as 2 weeks. But, if it had obvious physical damage they would immediately send me a new one. As long as they received my old damaged one within 30 days, I would only be charged the $99 deductible.
Those iPhones are very tough. Simulating it being dropped and squashed in a rotating door, was hard to do. But, perseverance paid off.
Mine has been in so many rainstorms, I should just get outriggers, and float the bitch.
I was in FIVE, yes five thunderstorms last week alone going across WY, ID, and MT, not to mention the 2 inches of snow on the bike in the Sawtooth mountains last Tuesday, and I have never experienced what you are describing.
They definitely should not do that.
The hailstorm in Helena on Friday dented the **** out of my new oil cooler
i've seen water pool in the bottom of the bezel and cause the screen to jump around. but, that was rare, and is not normal. if your 'local' dealer won't fix it, go to another one. if they give you pushback, call the customer service number for hd in your owner's manual and get them involved.
Ridden in rain and not had a problem as described. I would cry foul when saying the green flicking from one screen to another is normal. It is anything but normal.
