Consider this. If the Shinkos were the same price as Dunlop AEs. Which would you choose? Remember now, the AEs are a different tire than the OEM Dunlops.

I've got 8k miles on my 999s and they've been perfect. I have zero complaints as they've been worth every penny.

Some people feel the need to spend twice as much getting perceived twice the value more power to them, but after riding for 35 years, these do everything i could ask from them. My AEs probably lasted longer, but not at twice the distance.

shinkos are not half the cost.

a set of shinko 999 for my 2019 special is $396. a set of avon cobra chrome is $539. a net difference of $143, basically making the shinkos 75% of the cost of the avons. other tires are roughly the same price, american elite, bridgestone, metzler, etc.

now, i'm not knocking shinko tires. in fact i am running a set right now (777 though, i got them before the 999 were released) i have 10,000 miles on them and have no complaints. could probably go at least another 5k, but i'm going to be switching them out for a set of avon cobras in a couple of weeks after i get off shifts. because i just like them better. i only got the shinko during the pandemic because that was all that was available.

Nice reading on tires.. What I learned is buy what you like..

You get out of the tires how you ride! Got a set of Elite's on the RK and II's on the Dyna, I like both. Had a set of III's on the Dyna before the II got close to 20 thousand miles out of them.
Got almost 10 thousand on the Elite's in four months of riding now..
