Thanks, Rounders.. When I say warmed up, I mean the gauge shows zero at idle after I've been riding for about 30 minutes in 75 degree weather on a typical ride. The oil gauge is not reading high... when engine is cold AND when I'm riding on the interstate, oil gauge is at about 28/almost pointing straight up.

Without an oil light at idle, the bike's fine.

If the bike is doing something different I would want to know why it changed

That year I believe should not be near zero unless in stupid traffic. Later years,do seem to run lower.

I also expect in 40s at highway speed.

You could install test gauge. But if it goes in same spot, might be tough with engine hot so close to exhaust. I am not sure if some place else to install but I would think about taking for ride coming home and testing.

If it has changed I would want to know why.

Not sure if to late when idiot light comes on

If doesn't sound different, that is good sign. But I would still want to know.

I am assuming they change pumps with 96". But I am guessing

Maybe bad gauge, pump, bas pressure relief. No clue really.

Is the twin cams tick any different? Again assuming loud on your year too.

I have never had one go bad. Any value in taking off and cleaning fitting?

I am guessing you'll have to hook up gauge

My after market one screws into alarm gauge. Never looked closely at factory gauge. Is it one unit or does gauge screw into alarm? Is it even same spot?

Probably just gauge, but I would want to know why it changed

Do you have anything to help him, or just add junk posts, and then scream the thread has been ruined?

I would have changed the sensor by now, just to see. About 40 bucks. Go from there

And if you were on a Dyna/Softail/XL (without a gauge,) you wouldn't have anything to worry about.

Hahahahahaha! Nice. Ignorance is bliss... as long as the lifters stay quiet.
