I tried to keep it a short story but here it goes. I was having it shipped from TX to AZ. They put it on the truck facing the rear. The windshield captured the wind like a sail and it was gone by the time it got here. I wasn't there to watch them load it and assumed a moving company that transported motorcycles would know what they were doing.
I would've bought new H-D if the moving guys paid for it.
It doesn't seem right to have the thick part on the inside of the shield to me, but what do I know. Both the horizontal bars on my '13 King windshield are the same size. I also bought an H-D quick-detach windshield for my Sportster and those bars are the same thickness
As a suggestion, don't tighten the bolts until after everything is on the bike. Then tighten all bolts so everything is aligned properly for ease in getting it on and off.
I didn't pay them so I just kept the money which is more than I'm paying. I'm going to try the Freedom 20". Very good advice, that is exactly what I will do.
20" is pretty tall. I forget the actual height of my original windshield, but foggy memory wants to say 22". It was huge. I replaced it with an HD 16" and the height is perfect for me. I'm 5'9" and normally proportioned (for reference). I look over it, but all the wind is deflected.

A standard Road King shield is 20". However the Police Model Road King shield is 22" mainly due to the taller sprung police saddle. My Highway King came with the standard 20" height and I swapped it for a 22" Freedom shield due to it having a police styled solo much like the original "buddy seat" Harley had in the 60's. The 22 works much better on it and Freedom shield quality is unmatched. I've owned about 8 Road Kings, 2 of them being Police models.
