I just picked up one of those 12" rubber antennas they sell at the Harley dealer (distributed by "FreedomCycle Reno" and/or "Yuill Bros Co") but haven't used it yet. Anyone here tried that one? I'm sure hoping reception is decent with it. I've got the tourpack off my E-G most of the time so I'm running with the antenna mount next to the tail light and wanted the stubby rubber antenna (provided it works that is).

I did exactly as electrarick did and didn't feel I lost any reception. I eventually went with the power antenna that goes inside the fairing, to get rid of the tenna being on the back. Reception isn't nearly as good, so I am thinking of going back to the cut-off version.

There's a guy on Ebay selling short antennas. I got a pair for about $30.

I had money to burn, so I bought the J & M shortys. They work as advertised, look good, but set me back $80 bucks.
same here.. work great, look great...not much you can do to a Harley for a measly $ 80 !
Same here.

I bought the J&M at Myrtle Beach Bike Week. Mine do not pick up near as good as the orginial antennas. Where I live, I hit scan and lots of times it will not stop scanning. With the whips I always found a station that way. The look of the J&M is much better. The reception is not, at least in my area.
