Hello,
i have a 2013 rk. Looking to get some lowering shackles - i have purchased the hogworkz for my sg and had an issue with the shocks rubbing the bags. Have also read some reviews with rk having the same issue. I have progressive coil shocks - is there a brand out there that can lower with out this issue?? Thanks for the help
Not sure how low you want to go but I am not a fan of the add-on lowering kits because some create issues like you're experiencing.
I also have a '13 King and I lowered it an inch front and rear using appropriate shocks. I have 12" Ohlins for the rear that has 3" of travel. With the proper sag, it's about 11" when I sit on the bike. I also had a seat mod lowering it 1 1/2" with a narrow seat neck to get my legs closer.
By shackles do you mean the shock relocating brackets?
I have never known anyone that was happy with any of the relocating brackets. It changes the angle of the shock.
A shorter shock might be better, but you will have less travel.
i do have a shorter shock on the rear. im only 5'4" 130lbs. my seat is pretty narrow. I should probably re adjust my shocks just to make sure the sag is correct.
I am running Kuryakyn I think. They keep the shock at the same angle and dont rub on a '14 SGS. They just drop it an inch with not relocation rearward.
