I decatted mine by cutting the window out. Didn't want to do the drill bit method as I wasn't sure of getting it all out and didn't want a rattling noise in the exhaust. I followed this guy's way, it took me about 6-7 hours to do from start to finish with the wrap.
My opinion is that the cat is extremely restrictive. On the CVO's the cats are supposed to be hi flo, but it's still restricting the flo - ALOT.
I would doubt weather there is much difference on an aftermarket header and the harley header, I did mine due to cost.
I wrapped my exhaust whilst i had it off with a titanium wrap and my right let still gets hot on a hot day when stationary. Its a big motor and a lot of air heats up around that rear cylinder, but it make a huge difference.
Butt dyno was night and day with it removed.
