Default Fair price?

I stopped in at the dealer where I bought my 06 ultra new and asked about a trade on a 08 anniversary ultra. I,ve had stage 1, sert and ovals put on with 18,000 miles on the clock. They wanted $10,859 difference to trade. Is that about right? I have gave up on getting this bike to idle right. I paid cash for it in May 06 and I,ve taken it back more than 20 times for an idle/stalling conditions and it still will not idle right. They keep telling me to be patient they will fix it sooner or later I,m afraid my wife will be with me when it really acts up and runs away with itself. Any comments????? Dan

I know this isn't answering your question, but seems to me that if I had bought a new 06 from the dealer and had it into them close to 20 times for stalling and screwed up idle and they couldn't fix it ...I sure wouldn't be buying anything else from that dealer.

That's just not right.

Have you had it to other shops? Ask on the forums for recommendations in your area. Get troubleshooting advice here so you know how to describe the problem when you take it in.

Good luck.

Don't sound too fair to me. I traded an 04 rkc for an 07 ultra for $7,000.00 the rkc had about the same miles you had but it did have a 95 inch motor. But we are talking rk for ultra not ultra for ultra

First off look at it this way.....you could get the 08 and have an "issue" with it just like you've had with the 06, so take that off-the-table as an excuse for tradin,..second...it sounds like they want to "do it to you" without the common decency of a reach-around...Third,... what are they givin you for your scoot...12k? You could do a lot better on a private sale...Fourth..you could do a nice build on your bike for 4-5k and be way ahead of the game...you asked for it..so there's my .02...good luck either way...

Trade, get rid of the problem child and move on to something better. How much do you figure they are giving you for yours?

1st, I ve taken it to origional dealer and a dealer closer to home. It,s had stage 1, sert, dinoed, ovals, induction module seals, induction air motor and engine temperature sensor .# 2 I grew up working on cars and bikes. I made a very good living working on high precission machinery. 2 microns or less, Ive reached a point in life where its fun to tinker with something, but i want something that runs right, that I don,t need to work on I am trying to find out what would be a fair price difference between the 2 bikes and if some one knows somebody at the moco who might get this bike fixed. I don,t like to say I can,t fix it.!!!! that goes against my grain. Dan

The only good part of this whole thing, is time is on my side till next spring till the warranty runs out and the new bikes have some of the bugs worked out of them. No HD Jake, I think I,ll wait a little longer before I trade. I really would like to know what a fair trade would be though. Dan

You said you weren't in a rush, so you should really sell the bike on your own.
Than you can shop around and make the dealer work to make the sale.
