No burn-outs, correct air pressure and tire balance will get you 10k on the "402" back tire. However, that is taking it down to the quick. My front tire lasts longer, butchange along with the rear.

 

I have a 06 ultra and replaced the stock rear Dunlopat 16500 mileswith a Metz ME880. I was pleased with the wear I got from the Dunlop’s.I still have 75 percent tread left on the front Dunlop. I now have 18000 miles and the Metz is now broken in andseems to handle slightly better cornering and road groves are almost non existent now and that was just replacing the rear looking forward to seeing what the bike feels like in replacing the front. The Dunlop’s seemed to find every road grove there was. We will see how many miles I get out of the Metz but as of now I would lean on the 880s.

I just had the rear tire replaced on my 06 R/G, stuck with the Dunlop. It had 9,500 miles on it, could have got to 10,000 but just didn't want to push my luck. 2 up riding most of the time.

 

Had my rear tire changed today to Metzler. $220.00 installed, Felt good on the way home. Will know more after a few rides. BTW the Dunlop had 12,775 miles on it and the rear brake pads looked like new.

jdtest............I heard that when you get"a little on edge"trying to quit smoking that some J B Weld between your cheek and gum helps you not say things that might "offend" anyone! [8D]

The Police version D402 is what I stick with. It is just like the civilian D402.....but usually a little less, probably because it does not say "Harley-Davidson" on it. I typically get a rear one for about $80-$100 and a little less for the front. Besides, if the Police D402becomes flat.....I can at least ride the bike without tearing up the rim. They claim that it is not approved for twoup riding.....tell my why it is not then?

I usually get around 10,000-15,000 on the rear. The front one usually dies of dry rot before mileage replacement time. 40 PSI on the rear and 36 PSI on the front everytime. I check my tire pressure every three days though.

My Electra Glides only get the Police tires. I really like the fact that a flat will not leave me stranded. Definately a tire worth considering.....especially if you want a D402 and you don't care if it only comes in black.

 

I'am sticking with Dunlops, the stockers have been great.

 

Metz 880's...for every reason. Better handling, ride, braking, wet & dry traction...IMO, all around the superior tire.

I don't worry about the longevity of the tire...only my own.

 

I went with Avon's I like to lean into the curves they stick better than the stocks.

 

Just picked it up with the Metzler ME 880's. What a difference in the ride. Thanks to all who made comments.
