The new lineup looks pretty good. Going to stick with what I have. I do miss a good tourer, but I prefer riding without a passenger anyway and I'm quite comfortable on any of the bikes I have. Two of my bikes are single-seaters, so if one of my gal-pals wants a motorcycle ride it'll have to be on the BMW or one of the older bikes. I've been known to change my mind on a whim, so we'll see if this ages well.
My problem has been, there's so much to make it better. I spent a lot. I can't say how much, even though my wife isn't on this site, I can't take that chance. But no joke, I have $50k in my bike now.
You need to send me a set of forward controls for a '22 FXLRS by noon Wednesday or I'm telling your wife about the $50K.
Im not going to read through all 123 posts ahead of me but I was at my favorite dealer yesterday and they received their first 2024 bikes in that morning. They were still being prepped and in the storage room but a salesman walked me back and he and I went over them pretty good.
I was impressed to say the least. Im a Roadglide rider and the 2024 is really really nice. Two reallys worth of nice.
RDRS is now standard as well as the 117 motor. Water cooled heads also. I believe all trim is the same as on the cvo bikes. No trim levels now, just choice of paint and chrome or black engine.
Shout out to Boswells Harley Davidson and to owner Bubba for letting me look before they were prepped. Also to Patrick for showing me the new rides.
i actually think the tech, features and pricing are great. i feel the same way about indian, their infotainment was way ahead of what hd offered when it came out and i think in some ways it still is. problem is, i wont buy a bike thats that ugly. i saw the new bikes when the photos were leaked and hated them. i saw the new cvos when they hit dealers, yep, still hated them. i saw the new 24s when i went to order a new fender for my 14 friday. yeo, still hate them, but now ive realized not only are they ugly as all getout, i pretty much hate everything about them except for what i mentioned earlier, the tech etc. if i could retrofit the infotainment to my bike i might consider it but im sure that would run a small fortune. great features imo, horrendous execution and form. im glad people like them, but theyre not for me at all.
72 here.. Heading down to the dealer this weekend to trade the Road King on a Road Glide.. Onyx White Pearl with chrome trim. (Yea, old guys like chrome). I was set to buy a '24 Road Glide Limited, but Harley chose to keep them unchanged from 2023, so no sale. I'm going to slap a tour pak on the new bike. No lowers like the Limited, but close to it I guess.
The 117 is the main reason I went with the basic Road Glide. The wet weight of the 117 Road Glide is only 20 Lbs more than my 107 Road King. It should scream without having to get into the stages.. And, I'm a gadget freak. I really like that Buck Rogers display.
I'm prepared for the haters. I know when I go to bike events there are going to be people pointing and saying ugly.. But I'll like it. That's what counts
I went down to the dealer yesterday, we have 3 in the area. Place was packed, 75% well over 50 years. But no 24's! They don't get any until Tuesday.
As far as going to events and people pointing and saying ugly.......I get that all the time....... Just being out in public!
Oh yeah. i don't miss it a bit. Guys crow about how great it all is, and I have built and maintained many a distributor, or sets (yes sets) of points. **** all that.
Ill 2nd that! 64 Triumph bobber I had started better on electronic ignition.
