Default Shock help

Hey all,
I have a 2012 SG and I just switched to the progressive 412 shocks. My idiot self didn’t measure the sag before replacing the old with new. So now my question is:

is there a “stock sag”? I’m about 150lbs and my wife is about the same. So about 300lbs on the bike. Wasn’t sure if this was something I would be able to adjust based off “stock sag/length” or if riding it and adjusting accordingly would be best.

thanks in advance!

My 2020 and 2022 stock shocks had no sag. They're not really shocks. Just adjustable springs.

don't worry about how much sag you had on the stock shocks (if any), but go by what progressive tells you you should have for sag on the shocks you purchased.

Don't worry about it. My 2018 has no "sag". Hell. It has no rear suspension any way. Like riding on a saw horse.

In general it would be about 30% of the actual shock travel.

Progressive recommends 1” of sag from full extension. Measurement 1 should come with the bike on a jack with both wheels off the ground , next you need to adjust to get 1” of sag with you solo on the bike and then get your adjustment to get 1” with you two up

Set it to 1/3rd total shock travel. That's loaded weight meaning both you and the bride on it. Put a tie wrap around the shock shaft to measure with.

Michael, if you do much 2 up riding, should probably upgrade to better shocks, like the 944’s. These don’t have adjustability from what I can see, did you get the standard or HD Springs?

Once the sag is set for you, you adjust the preload for you and your better half on the bike. The sag should stay the same.
