Default Bridging Cardo Mesh to Sena Mesh - works as advertized!

I spent time this morning testing the Card Mesh to Sena Mesh bridging as outlined in the video linked below.

The user with the two Cardo Edge units had never connected them via DMC (Cardo's mesh) and I had never used a Cardo unit. Once we cleared the knowledge hurdle of connecting the two Cardo Edge devices via DMC the connectivity worked exactly as presented.

In the video, there is a warning to keep the two devices providing the bridge Cardo DMC to Sena Mesh close together so the Bluetooth connection doesn't drop. I plan to request that the riders performing the bridge function ride next to each other.

As a bonus test, I connected the Sena Mesh+ adapter to the Cardo Edge. The Sena Mesh+ allows non-Sena mesh compatible devices to join a Mesh session. I used this when I only had the Sena 20S units and wanted to join our chapter's ride mesh. Following the same steps outlined in the video, the Cardo Edge connected to the Sena Mesh+ on the first try and then the bridge could be activated to join the sides. If a Cardo Edge rider has a Sena Mesh+ adapter mounted on their bike distance across the bridge is no longer an issue.

In the comments section of the video there is this footnote:
The unit acting as the bridge needs to be a gen2 Packtalk (Edge, Neo, Custom) but the Cardo DMC mesh group can be comprised of any Cardo DMC headset, so Packtalk Bold, Black, Slim, etc. can all be part of the conversation, they just can't act as the bridge unit.

So Gen2 Cardo Packtalk (Edge, Neo, Custom) connected to Sena 50s will bridge the previously incompatible mesh environments.

VA Larry, this is exaclty what I was looking for, thank you. I'm going to try out connecting Cardo to buddie's Sena 50s first but I like the idea of the Sena Mesh + as a backup just in case. For the Sena mesh +, I see there are two different units, did you use the base one or their universal one?

VA Larry, thanks for your research and testing! I am trying to get my HOG chapter to buy into the Mesh system, but some of the members won't consider moving off of the CB, which is getting harder and harder to find nowadays.

I also found that video and happen to own a HD branded Sena 30K, a HD branded Sena 50C, a HD branded Cardo Packtalk Edge, and a non-branded Cardo Packtalk Edge. I was trying to create the same demo in the video, but I can't get the 30K and 50C Sena units to form an open Mesh just between the two of them, before I even try to bridge the Cardos and the Senas. I believe I am following each user manual step by step. Any ideas?

Now I know I am getting old....

I read the title of this thread and had absolutely no idea what it meant....

After reading the posts, I will guess it has to do with bluetooth wireless comm stuff, but I am still pretty much clueless..

Sigh, excuse me while I go yell at some kids to get off my lawn....

I have the original Mesh+ unit specifically for Sena headset connectivity.

Yes Sena and Cardo are Bluetooth headset manufacturers. Harley pushed the HD branded Sena units for the Boom GTS WHIM connectivity but recently aligned with HD branded Cardo units for the new dash system.

in my experience the connectivity issue you describe indicates needing a firmware update. Always check to be sure that each unit has the latest firmware. The HD branded Sena units did not get firmware patches as fast as the non branded units. HD support should be able to assist with that issue.

HD making the CB an add on option phased out CB use in my chapter as people traded bikes. I still have a handheld unit that I use for special situations. I have not experimented with this lately but in theory it would be possible to bridge a CB into a Bluetooth connection and then into Sena mesh with the Mesh+ adapter, Sena sells a CB to Bluetooth adapter, I think I have an older model somewhere in a box. We built a harness to add Bluetooth to the original Boom box. This was before Sena created their Freewire to do that.

Back in 2015 I had a Sena unit in my helmet and would clip a CB mic as needed to the helmet. Effectively I was a human bridge between those on CB and the Bluetooth group.

The comms available today for riders is truly amazing. I don't use it, don't fully understand it, but find it amazing...

We have come a long way with tech on motorcycles...

My '78 Low Rider required you to hold the turn signal button to keep the turn signal active.. When you released the button, the signal stopped.

On my '89 Heritage (or was it my '03 Heritage), you could push the button to turn the signal on and release it. The signal would stay active until you finished your turn or pushed the button again to deactivate it...

I thought that was the coolest tech I had seen....
