The video sounds more like clunking. What we get sounds like an '70's chevy when the starter does not engage the ring gear correctly or you have held the key on after the engine is running. Like a grinding of teeth.
If you have this kinda noise it's time to do something about it
My noise started out just every once in a while then got real bad real quick
Good Luck WP
Dang thats sounds horrible!?! Yea its nothing like that, hard to describe. When cold/cool it idles & starts just fine, when hot in traffic its kind of a every few seconds kinda thing like something is out of balance. I should get it on video cause IDK how to describe it. Kept thinking the lowers were just loose & rattling. And at gas stations its hit & miss, sometimes it restarts just fine, other times it like kicks back & blows smoke through the air cleaner & sounds like a big clunk. Definitely lay into the starter at gas stations & that seems to help.

Frustrating right?!! Everyone looks over like your bike just imploded, scared the crap out of me the first time. Was looking at baker or manowar but don't wanna start replacing things till I'm sure whats wrong. Anyway I'm in Phoenix so I have like 3 months of riding season left so if I hafta do something major it'll be mid summer.
If u hit the starter cold it fires up like instantly, if I do that hot there's more of a chance of the 'kick back'. Read somewhere about really hitting the starter for like 3-4 secs & then she'll usually start.
I believe she is rich yes, always reading about crazy mileage on here when I get 32-35 mpg. I have the orange screamin eagle tuner but I've never messed with it, just came with the bike. Will definitely say though she doesn't run particularly hot like others complain about.

I was working on and servicing my bike. Friends were over and the conversation went to a bike that was acting up as you describe. No codes either.
It was suggested that he a try a head temp sensor. He did latter commented that it improved the hot starts by a lot.
One of my boys bike was acting much like it as well. I got a temp sensor and it took care of his.
Not saying that your problem but it a cheap try and easy to do.
