long story short the dealer told me harley told them that being that its not visible with the derby cover on its not an issue unless it starts to leak or the chrome starts peeling
Setting aside the issue of whether Harley-Davidson could've or should've replaced the cover, the dealer could've resolved the issue themselves with a $60 cover and made a happy customer.
After I got home with my Ultra-Limited my wife noticed a brownish spot of discolored chrome on one of the saddlebag guards. I sent a picture to the salesman who ran it by the general manager and within a week I had a new guard. No warranty claim or questions, they just took care of it. You can bet I'll go back to that dealer in the future!

it does vary with dealership personnel..I had a cracked header heat shield and a cracked Street Canon weld on two separate occasions.... Both times I rode in and the SM at our dealership where I bought the bike and parts replaced them on the spot, just took pictures and sent them to HD for processing after the fact...they made the problem their problem, not the customer's
That's a non-issue. It doesn't affect the looks or the function. That's like being sad because the pistons have carbon on them. Looks like you're being offered a derby for the price of shipping. There are also plenty of ways to consider this an excuse to upgrade or personalize it. I wouldn't sweat this.
........i tried to attach a picture but cant seem to get one to upload it stops at 90% if somoen knows how i can upload a pic i will show you the crap they sold me
thanks
You need to resize the photo. If it's on your phone, email a lower res version to yourself. Then post that file.
Harley paint quality is among the industry leaders, if not the best...and they did a recall of some 2023 CVO Whiskey Neat paint jobs by their contractor Gunslinger in Colorado because it wasn't up to their standards is my understanding about what has been published. So c'mon Smitty, we all know you are a MOCO hater, but give some credit where credit is due on occasion.
Until they sell one with defect. Even the best screw up some times. But they should stand by it.
Bought a brand new street glide last september it was my first new harley ever all the other ones were used and i was really excited to finaly buy a brand new one .
changed the bars on it and i needed to get a longer clutch cable and after it was installed i proceeded to do a clutch adjustment when i removed the derby cover i find a major defect in the chrome so i contacted the dealership where my bike getting some work done and ask them to review and contact harley davidson for me .
long story short the dealer told me harley told them that being that its not visible with the derby cover on its not an issue unless it starts to leak or the chrome starts peeling so i called harley and basicly told the same story.
