I get that these details bother some people, especially considering the money we pay for a new Harley Davidson.
That said, I also believe that happiness is inversely correlated with expectations. The only reason I'm such a damn joy to be around is that I don't expect perfection from anything
I will say this. The quality of HD's chrome is not what it used to be.
Even between from 2007 and 2018. The chrome on my 2018 shows small surface scratches more and is less lustrous than my 2007.
Wouldn't make me happy, but that's about all. Lots of grinder marks and such typically on the inside of engines and such.
Mmm, might check it with a straight edge just to make sure it isn't wildly ground down below the surface. Though if it isn't leaking, Harley probably won't care.
Anyhow, I'd probably continue the theme and with a swiss file dress the various pimples I see to the right and below.
None of those defects are from the chroming itself, looks like poor prep work before dropping the part in the chrome bath.

Don't automatically blame the EPA (or anyone other yourself) for the scratches on your chrome exhaust. How is it getting so marred? Regular cleaning and polishing might be the answer. The interior grinding inside the derby cover is another matter all together.
