Did I miss something? I didn't see where they offered the OP anything.

Id replace it on my own dime and be done with it before Id go to the mat with a dealer or the moco over a derby cover.
Edit: just realized a derby cover probably wont fit in a small Priority mail box. Switched to medium.
I too was under the impression it was just the derby. I just re-read the posts I missed. Yeah, that would aggravate me if it caused a problem.
The primary cover would also need a gasket, so in addition to the $305 for the part, the $31 for the gasket, you'd still need oil, which is about $15 at this point. It it were mine, I'd watch it and otherwise, not loose sleep. That's a lot of money to fix something that won't likely cause a problem.
But, it should never have had that issue to begin with.
I just traded my 2020 RGS that I purchased brand new and put 75,000 miles on it. Did not have one single issue or problem of any kind. very high quality machine and the closest thing any Harley of mine has ever come to being a Toyota .. go enjoy riding the hell out of it, should be rock solid reliable

Exactly this but..
Ive restored a number of cars and a couple of bikes... You should see some of the things they do at the factory to make components work... General rule of thumb is if you dont see it and it will not cause a failure or reliability issue, then theres no issue.. Not that I agree with that statement. I think the worst thing I saw was years ago I was restoring a 1970 Vette with a 4 bolt main motor. At the factory, one of the main bolt snapped at assembly and the motor went in the car.. It ran 35 years without issue but at rebuild time, what a PITA... My buddy who is the original owner of an 85 FXST, the under side of the tank and fenders was never painted, coated, whatever they did. His fenders both rusted thru from the underside and was discovered 30+ years later....
