Default Oil Relocation kit

@DK Custom Products @DK Custom

I have a 2009 Ultra Classic FLHTCU. I would like to ask you a question about the Oil Filter Relocation Kit.
Regarding the oil lines goin from the OEM oil filter mount to the new location of the DK filter mount, how much oil do they contain and do they drain out when the oil filter is removed? Also, once the oil filter is replaced how long is the engine starved of oil while the oil lines are priming to get the oil back to the engine?
I do like the idea of the this relocation kit just need to know more about it before I commit to it. Are there any pros and cons to it?.
Thanks.

Mongo I have two of their oil filter relocation kits and love them. There are no issues running these components and I opted for the front frame down tube mounts. I didn't care for the kits that route back to the passenger peg/floorboard.

So, you're saying that the folks at @DK Custom Products don't have the mental skills to design aftermarket parts? The irony is thick.

I’m a fan of DK Customs. They appear to put out well thought out products, post their own in-house research, comment here regularly with insightful info (UNLIKE SOME FOLKS, see post #2) and I’m wondering the same thing the OP posted, albeit probably not as concerned about it.

As for post #2. The discussion is not about the oil pump so far as I can tell.

My incoming police bike doesn’t have a passenger peg or foot board to “hide” the relocated oil filter and mount under, although I am less concerned about aesthetics on this particular bike. It’s more about function than form.

That said, I’m tired of making a mess every time I change the oil filter and will probably end up installing this feature.

Is disparaging site vendors who are otherwise respected contributors to the forum something the site ownership tolerates?

I can't give you a number, because I don't know the volumetric flow of the pump, and I don't know if the lines drain or not. But, you've likely replaced oil filters in other vehicles, and have seen how long it takes to fill up the filter and get oil pressure up. Even with a big filter, it's just a few seconds. So off hand, I don't think you've any real worries.

I have no doubt they can fab products.

I bought there tour pack relocater for older bikes. Made me realize they are not putting thought into their products. Hundred some bucks wasted sitting box. I will not risk damage to my tour pal with their product.

Anyone can run some hoses and make a bracket
We are all very lucky to have someone like you on this forum sharing your wisdom. Said no one. Ever.

The oil goes from the oil tank to the oil pump before it goes to the oil filter or the relocated filter. There will be no loss of oil to any componets. At least this is how I read the oil circulation diagram. If I am mistaken someone chime in.

And I take it the other makers of these relocation kits, and there are a few others, have the same mental skills.
