Default 2003 Road King Starter Motor Replacement JackShaft

~Gah!
Can anyone advise as to why the jackshaft bolt won't tighten up/grip/do up again after a starter motor replacement. It should be grabbing No.35 in the attached image but its almost like it doesn't reach it any more or the thread is now too small?

Did you get the right starter for it? Is it a new bolt or using the old one?

All the above are possible. I'd probably investigate a different bolt. Especially if this is a non-oem starter. It very well may be threaded differently.

There are two (2) different potential bolts for that application. Depends on the Starter.
One of them is significantly of a smaller diameter/thread size.

I just swapped the Starter on my brother-in-law's Road King. He ordered an aftermarket unit, and it came with 2 different bolts.

Make sure there's only 1 number 11 in there.

Default Wrong bolt

Thanks everyone, after taking out the starter again and checking part no 29 was correctly orientated (shorter end towards the jackshaft) as seen here:
I've come to the conclusion the original bolt is not compatible with the replacement starter.

There is some evidence towards that in that on the old starter part 35 has single thickness screw hole whereas the replacement caters to thicker and then thinner inset (deeper in) I tested the bolt I have and it does screw in but just isn't long enough to grab when going through all the other components.

I've had to order a new jackshaft assembly as I can't find the bolt in question on its own. (UK) Hoping it's correct. Looks thicker before the thread atleast.
